Le Rostat
The Clairmarais forest is closely linked to the nearby Cistercian abbey, founded in the 12th century by the Count of Flanders and destroyed during the French Revolution. Living self-sufficiently, the monks built fishponds to provide for their fish needs. While some of these fishponds have disappeared, such as the mill pond adjacent to the abbey, the Harchelle pond is still clearly visible.
