In front of the church, the Templar well (1) was dug in 1302 and reaches a depth of 85 metres. The Order of the Knights Templar was founded in 1124 and its members, Christian knights, accompanied and protected pilgrims to Jerusalem during the Crusades. In Avroult, the order founded a farm from which they were expelled in the 14th century, following the dissolution of their order by the Pope.

Description

Devant l’église, le puits des Templiers (1) a été creusé en 1302 et atteint une profondeur de 85 mètres. L’ordre des Templiers a été créé en 1124 et ses membres, des chevaliers chrétiens, accompagnaient et protégeaient les pèlerins vers Jérusalem à l’époque des croisades. A Avroult, l’ordre a fondé une ferme d’où ils ont été chassés au XIVe siècle, après la dissolution de leur ordre par le pape.
