Thérouanne nestles in the hollow of the Lys valley. Thérouanne, currently a rural market town with a population of almost 1,200, has a prestigious past. It was the capital of a Gallic tribe. These Gauls were called the Morins. They gave our territory the name Morinie. Caesar's legions had a hard time conquering the area, but the Romans built a city here, the administrative centre of inland Morinia and a trading centre served by a dense road network.

Description

Thérouanne est blotti au creux de la vallée de la Lys. Thérouanne, actuellement un bourg rural qui compte près de 1200 habitants, a un passé prestigieux. Capitale d'une tribu gauloise. Ces gaulois étaient appelés les Morins. Ils ont donné le nom à notre territoire la Morinie. Celle-ci fut difficilement conquise par les légions de César ; les Romains y édifièrent une cité, chef-lieu administratif de la Morinie intérieure, centre d’échanges commerciaux desservi par un réseau routier très dense.
