GUIDED TOUR | The CFTVA’s railway collection

Starting from the Boat Lift, join our guide on a walk to the old Arques railway station and discover locomotives and passenger carriages from various eras.

The guide will tell you the story of the Chemin de Fer Touristique de la Vallée de l’Aa association and its volunteers, as well as their important work in preserving historic railway rolling stock in partnership with the SNCF.

The tour involves walking outdoors (approximately a 10-minute walk between the two sites, punctuated by anecdotes)

You can also combine this with an audio-guided tour of the Ascenseur à Bateaux des Fontinettes interpretation centre (site open from 10.00 to 11.00 and from 14.00 to 18.00, admission fee +€5.90), or the guided tour of the Fontinettes Boat Lift, the Neuffossé Canal and the Fontinettes Lock (at 2.30 pm or 4 pm, subject to availability; audio-guided tour of the interpretation centre included; price: €9).
