Originally from Saint-Omer, Petro grew up amidst the marshes and forests of the Audomarois region. From a very young age, he developed a passion for nature, fantastical creatures and drawing; later, he discovered hip-hop culture, practising several disciplines within it, including graffiti. Working as a fitness instructor at a gym, he would spend his spare moments behind the counter drawing in the centre’s guest book, which, over time, became a sketchbook that members looked forward to seeing new pages in. Following positive feedback and a desire to share his art, he decided to become an artist. Restoring the sacred to the living is the approach Petro seeks to convey through his works. He draws inspiration from human beings, mythological figures and symbols common to different cultures, which gives his work a universal appeal. Since childhood, Pierre has been observing, absorbing and exploring nature. He captures forms, textures and light, and from this ‘hunt for the eye’ another universe is born, where everything he has seen, felt and imagined comes together in a unique way. It is here that ‘Petro’ takes shape.
